Practical automation guidance

The purpose of these workflow notes

An independent reading aid for anyone weighing up automation consulting for a small or medium-sized business.

What the site covers

These notes describe what happens in an automation consulting engagement, in the order the work happens: mapping a task, choosing work that can be checked, running a bounded pilot and keeping people responsible for decisions. The emphasis is on the work and the evidence, not on any particular tool.

Who it is written for

Operations managers, office managers and owners who must decide whether to change a process and want to read a proposal critically. No technical background is assumed. Terms such as BPMN, SIPOC, CSV, JSON, OAuth and GDPR are explained where they first matter.

How the content was put together

The pages are general, evergreen information written for this site. They draw on established practice and public standards: BPMN, Kanban, PDCA and the published RFCs for CSV, JSON and OAuth. The workflows shown, such as order routing or invoice review, are hypothetical illustrations, not client cases. The site is not a news service and does not report what any tool currently offers.

What the site does not do

It does not offer consulting, take bookings, recommend a provider or compare products. It does not give legal, financial or personal advice, does not test software and does not collect information about visitors. Where a topic touches law or personal data, it says so once and points to a qualified professional or the relevant public authority.

Accessibility

Every page can be used with a keyboard alone. Focus is visible on links, buttons, form fields and question summaries. Text is set at a readable size with strong contrast against its background, and movement is reduced when the system asks for it. No certified level of accessibility is claimed. If something does not work for you, describe the problem using the contact page, which prepares text on your device that you can copy or download.
